Wrestle Ropes' Ready for the Weekend: April 2016 Week 3 - FCP, Pride & RevPro

We're back and once again it's time for everybody to come aboard the.... weekly article? Yeah, so we're no experts at talking. What we are pretty good at though is telling you just a tiny selection of the great events coming up this weekend in British Wrestling. Let's get Ready For The Weekend!

Friday night kicks off another wrestling weekend when Fight Club: PRO are back at their usual haunt in Wolverhampton of The Planet Nightclub. The night sees Vol 2 of Planet Terror take place but it could be virtual bliss for us wrestling fans. Back at 'Rise Against' Pete Dunne was originally scheduled to face Clint Margera in a Death match. However, Dunne said that he would never compete in such a match and Rickey Shane Page took his place. Well this Friday marks Margera's birthday and FCP management have let Margera choose any match he wants as way of a gift. So Dunne will be in this match. He will be facing Margera. And it shall be an unsanctioned Death match! Clint Margera might not only be ripping open gifts, he could be ripping open Pete Dunne. For months, The Hunter Brothers have been at odds with The Facesmashers. Last month, Wild Boar & Dan Moloney said they wouldn't face Hunter Brothers again until they proved themselves. Well FCP think Hunter Brothers have proven their worth so these two teams are going to meet once again in an attempt to settle their differences. Whether we'll see the end to this war or not, we're seeing another battle in Wolverhampton this Friday. The main event on April 15th shall see MK McKinnan defending the FCP Championship for the first time this year. His opponent shall be having their first challenge for a championship in FCP, Nixon Newell. McKinnan has stated that he believes Newell has no place in the ring with him. Newell has proven without doubt that she is equal to any man or woman to grace FCP. If McKinnan thinks that Newell is no real threat to his championship reign then simply he won't walk out of The Planet Nightclub as champion.

Moving on to Saturday and Pride Wrestling are hosting their first event of 2016 at their home of the Bridgeton Community Centre in Glasgow. The night sees championships defended and new threats emerge. Chris Renfrew and DCT have been battling over the N7 Championship since last year with Renfrew going to any length to remain champion. However, DCT's resilience has lead to Renfrew showing him a degree of respect. DCT's quest and hunger for the N7 Championship is still as strong as it ever was. He will not stop until he becomes champion. Each time he has come closer than the last. Could this be his time to topple Renfrew and become champion or will he come up short once again to the antics of the champion? Massimo Italiano is back in action at Pride after an impressive debut at their last event. This time round he's going one on one with possibly the most popular man in Pride, Bobby Roberts. Italino is a big hitter and he'll need to hit hard to get Roberts off his feet and down for the three-count. The crowd will almost certainly be behind 'Big Beefy' as he welcomes back the big Italian. When Pride finishes we shall know who has a guaranteed championship match as the 24/7 Challenge returns this Saturday. The past two challenges have been won by men who have both went on to become Pride Heavyweight Champion thanks in part to the any championship, anywhere clause. This 24/7 Challenge sees one of those men, 'The Lowland Superstar' Glen Dunbar once again compete for the contract. His long-time tag team partner, Alex Cavanagh and Christopher Saynt have also been announced for the match. The unknown in this match will come from the two unannounced entrants. Everyone in Pride Wrestling will want to be a part of this match as previous winners have shown it's potential to be a rocket to championship gold. The eventual winner will just have to overcome four other competitors to get that chance.

Rounding off the wrestling weekend and Revolution Pro Wrestling are at the UK Paper Leisure Club in Sittingbourne with their 'Sittingbourne Spectacular 2016' event. RevPro are well-known for the international match-ups and this event is no different with international stars in every match that has been announced. That is not be a slight at RevPro as they have scheduled some mouthwatering match up with the best of British stars. Pete Dunne only debuted in RevPro a few months ago during the Undisputed British Cruiserweight Championship tournament. He went on to win that tournament and has been having stellar matches since. This Sunday looks to be no different as he faces one of the best cruiserweights in the world in the shape of Matt Sydal. Sydal has had a number of memorable matches in the past few years. This match could well be added to that list when he faces Dunne. When RevPro announced the first match for this event we knew the calibre we were getting. King Ricochet returns to RevPro to face 'The Aerial Assassin' Will Ospreay. Both of these men have appeared in the US, both are members of the New Japan Pro Wrestling roster. This is a match of world-class, epic proportions. Make no mistake this match will show why both of these men are the most in demand stars in the world right now. The main event will see championship gold defended as Zack Sabre Jr defends the Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship against Michael Elgin. ZSJ won the championship from now WWE star, AJ Styles back in January. Not only did ZSJ win but he made Styles tap out to do it. Styles on that night declared the new champion to be one of the best in the world. A sentiment echoed by many others. He'll have to be indeed one of the best this Sunday as the challenger, Elgin, is a powerhouse of professional wrestling. Elgin has appeared in RevPro before and he impressed in a big way. Since then he has grown in talent and power. ZSJ is a technical wizard whose kicks are as hard as his holds are to escape from. He'll need those talents to counter the power and strength that Elgin will bring to the table on April 18th.

Wrestle Ropes' Ready for the Weekend: April 2016 Week 2 - TW, PWC & PROGRESS

When a sports season reaches it's conclusion there is a small break, a time to recover. Well wrestling has no off-season and while the biggest weekend in professional wrestling may now have past for another year, British Wrestling still has a packed weekend of action coming up. This week we're firstly head to Carlisle to celebrate an anniversary before going back south for the biggest show in a promotion's history. Then just to round off the weekend we'll jump across to Manchester on Sunday. Let's get Ready For The Weekend!

Kicking off the weekend on Friday night and Target Wrestling are at The Venue in Carlisle to celebrate their 3rd anniversary. To celebrate their 3rd year, Target Wrestling have announced a trio of international names to compete. One of those names is 'War King' Eddie Kingston. A former CHIKARA Grand Champion, Kingston is well-known for his violent and physical style. His opponent is one of the most violent man not only in Target Wrestling but the whole of the UK. One half of the current Target Tag Team Champions; Chris Renfrew. Both of these men have held gold in numerous promotions during their careers and have done so with more than a hint of ruthlessness. It's not really a question of who will walk out the winner but rather who will go the furthest to win. While Renfrew faces a man of violence, his tag team partner and fellow champion, BT Gunn will compete against a world-renowned high flyer in 'The Juice' Juventud Guerrera.  A former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, Guerrera has worked for almost every international company on the planet. Gunn is considered to be the best wrestler in Europe by a number of fans and wrestlers. He could well cement that distinction this Friday with a win over 'The Juice'. The main event for April 8th shall see the current Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Champion; Jay Lethal come to Target Wrestling. He will be competing against the current Target High Octane Division Champion; Shady Nattrass. However, while both men may be a champion, after this Friday, one shall not be as this will be a dual championship, winner takes all match. Lethal has won championship gold all over the world and could well add to his collection. Shady Nattrass has beaten some of the biggest international names in professional wrestling but a win to become the ROH World Heavyweight Champion would be the biggest yet.

Moving on to Saturday and we head to Pro Wrestling Chaos who shall be holding their biggest event to date when they make their debut at the Action Indoor Sports in Whitchurch, Bristol. Now when we said this was their biggest show to date, we didn't mean in size although they have already broken their own pre-sale record. No, what we mean is that PWC will make genuine  world-first history as the Ring Of Honor World Heavyweight Championship and TNA World Heavyweight Championship shall both be defended on the same show. Now you could excuse PWC for just using that news to make you want to come to this show. But that is not the style of PWC. This show is stacked from bell to bell! There are three championship matches, one of them a tables match. There is a Falls Count Anywhere match, a Ladder match, a Mountevans Rules match and a tag team championship tournament match! As we mentioned, both the ROH World Heavyweight Championship and TNA World Heavyweight Championship will be defended. Firstly, Jay Lethal shall be defending the ROH World Heavyweight Championship against 'White Lightning' Mark Andrews, a well-traveled, world-class wrestler in his own right and more than a challenge to Jay Lethal. 'The Pride Of Wales' Eddie Dennis, another hidden gem of British Wrestling, shall look to make history for himself as well on April 9th by becoming the first ever Welsh-born TNA World Heavyweight Champion when he challenges Drew Galloway for the gold. Mike Bird and El Ligero will look to settle their differences once and for all when they meet for a third time in a Falls Count Anywhere match. With each man holding one win over the other, they are without doubt going to do all it takes to pick up the deciding victory and end this long running rivalry. A few months ago, Pro Wrestling Chaos hosted a match between Johnny Kidd and Pete Dunne under traditional Mountevans Rules. For those unaware, Mountevans Rules dictate that a competitor may score a fall by pinfall, submission, knockout, technical knockout or disqualification with the winner being the most falls after three rounds. The match was so well received that Pro Wrestling Chaos have now brought Kidd back for what shall be one of his last matches. His opponent is a man who is the embodiment of the Mountevans era, Jack Gallagher. This match will be nothing short of pure wrestling joy. It is a chance to seem a legend in one of his last matches, doing exactly what he does best and doing it with one of the best.

Finally rounding off the weekend and PROGRESS Wrestling are back at The Ritz in Manchester for 'Chapter 28: Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want'. Another stellar event is promised in Manchester with seven contests confirmed for this Sunday. Following Chapter 27, Mark Andrews and Eddie Dennis were attacked by The Origin in what has been an on-going saga between the two teams for a number of months. So PROGRESS have signed a match between F.S.U and The Origin's Nathan Cruz and El Ligero in an attempt to end this battle. The Origin's PROGRESS Tag Team Championship shall be on the line and the match shall be fought under No Disqualification rules. The Origin could continue their reign in PROGRESS or F.S.U could walk out as two-time champions. This past weekend, Marty Scurll made history with Will Ospreay as they fought in Dallas, Texas for the PROGRESS Championship. 'The Villain' walked out still the champion and will head to Manchester as such. However he will not be defending the championship again as he has refused to do so. While he may not be a defending champion on April 10th, he will be a competing one as PROGRESS management have announced that he shall be holding a non-title open challenge to anyone in attendance this Sunday. Whoever answers the challenge may not leave as champion but a win over Marty Scurll could well set them up with a future championship match. At Chapter 27, PROGRESS Wrestling announced a new championship and tournament that will take place in the coming months. The Atlas Championship shall only be open to those over the 205lb weight limit with the tournament to crown the inaugural champion consisting of two groups of four men with the winner of each group meeting in the final on September 26th. The tournament gets started this weekend and the first match shows us what we have to look forward to as T-Bone face Austria's Big Daddy Walter in a Group A match. Both men will want to start the tournament off with a win and make a statement on their intentions. Quite simply, we're getting a heavyweight collision this Sunday.

Wrestle Ropes' Ready For The Weekend: August 2015 Week 5 - RevPro, Kamikaze Pro, TNT & ICW

As we come off one of the big weekends in the wrestling year, you could be forgiven for thinking that the following weekend would be a quiet one. Well that might be the case for some, but not here in the UK as we have a plethora of events taking place all over our blossoming wrestling scene. Let's take a look at just a few and get Ready For The Weekend.

Up first on Friday night is Revolution Pro Wrestling's event at the Portsmouth Guildhall. RevPro are known for their events featuring the finest talents from the US and Japan and matching them with the greatest that the UK has to offer. This show looks to be no different with multiple international match-ups. One match with a great international flavour will see South Africa's and former WWE star, PJ Black (FKA Justin Gabriel) face one of the UK's most popular names, 'The Modfather' Flash Morgan Webster. Gabriel has travelled all over the world but it's unlikely he's ever faced anyone like Webster. From one on one competition to tag team action, The Wolves' Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards have held championship gold in almost every country they've competed in. Their opponents on August 28th are part of a group that have held nearly every championship in Revolution Pro Wrestling. The Wolves are one of the most seasoned teams in the world. Josh Bodom & James Castle will do anything in the world to win. The main event scheduled to take place at the Portsmouth Guildhall shall see 'The Phenomenal' AJ Styles defend the Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship against 'The Star Attraction' Mark Haskins. Now for anyone who is unaware, these men have a lot in common. Both have travelled extensively in Europe, Japan and been a part of TNA. This might be Styles first defence of the championship but to underestimate the threat that Haskins poses could very well make it his only defence.

Moving on to Saturday and we faced the old problem of picking one show from many so instead we have two. The first event on Saturday is Kamikaze Pro's Brute Force at The Collingwood Centre in Great Barr, Birmingham. The event will see all the championships on the line including Marshall X defending the Relentless Division Championship against Pete Dunne. These men are the opposite of each other in every way. Pete Dunne spent a number of weeks this year in China, improving his craft. Marshall X on the other hand spent his time winning and retaining the Relentless Division Championship by any means he could. However, now it's time to see if that cunning is enough to overpower Pete Dunne, a man who is focused solely on leaving Brute Force with gold once again round his waist. Speaking of gold, The Hunter Brothers will once again be in action defending the Tag Team Championships. Their opponents this time are a team which was born in Kamikaze Pro, The Vulture Squad. The Hunter Brothers have shown in every match why they are one of the best tag teams in Europe. The Vulture Squad have also shown their skills all over the UK as a team and individually. On August 29th we'll see who comes out of this match as the winner in a match that could go either way and steal the show. Another championship that'll be on the line will be the Kamikaze Pro Championship currently held by Robbie X. Robbie has had some big title defences since winning the gold in October 2014. This is quite literally his biggest as he defends against the first ever British World Heavyweight champion, Magnus. Robbie X has been a fighting championship and has never backed down from any opponent. He will need that mentality and all of his skill to overcome the massive Magnus. Magnus will know the challenge ahead of him to dethrone Robbie X. Robbie X will know this is biggest challenge yet.

The second event we are featuring for this Saturday is TNT Extreme Wrestling's Summer Explosion 2015 at The Black-E in Liverpool. Right at the top of the card in the main event we shall see Bubblegum face Stevie Boy in a Ladder Match with the winner qualifying for the heavyweight championship match later this year. Bubblegum is widely regarded as one of the UK's best wrestlers right now. Stevie Boy on the other hand is one of the best wrestlers based in Scotland. That being said, Stevie Boy is no underdog in this match. The fact that Stevie Boy is better known in Scotland than the UK as a whole is no indication of the skill and talent that he possesses. This main event is going to be very hard to call. This match might well introduce them to one of Scotland's wrestling diamonds when he faces one of the best in the UK. Now many people like masked wrestlers. Chris Ridgeway is not one of those people. He has issues with masks, big issues. However the next masked wrestler he faces, could be argued as being his toughest yet as he faces CHIKARA star, Ophidian on August 29th. Ophidian is known for his mastery of hypnosis. He may well need to to stop Ridgeway kicking his mask off and adding it to his growing collection. Many matches are born out of rivalry or quests for gold but not this next match between Wolfgang & Rampage Brown. Both men are classic heavyweights. Big, strong, tough and hard-hitting. This Saturday we're going to see which one is the best. It might destroy The Black-E in the process but even then these men will keep going until one comes out the victor.

Moving on to Sunday and Insane Championship Wrestling are back at The Garage in Glasgow with the next edition of their highly successful Spacebaws events. Championship gold will be on the line Sunday as the New Age Kliq's Stevie Boy faces DCT with the ICW Zero-G Championship up for grabs. DCT is a man on a mission right now after the events of his wedding to Viper and the attack from The 55. This has turned DCT into a man that few have ever seen. He's ruthless and unrelenting in his attacks. His opponent, the current ICW Zero-G champion, Stevie Boy knows all about being ruthless as he's part of the most dominating forces in the UK today. Stevie Boy turned on his own tag team partner before joining the NAK. DCT has claimed that nothing and nobody will stop him. We're going to see two men filled with hatred and anger give out as much as they can. Speaking of the NAK, Kay Lee Ray will also be in action on August 30th. She'll compete in a ICW Women's Championship Tournament Quarter-Final against one of the most decorated women's champions in history, Mickie James. These women have fought before but that was a very different Kay Lee Ray then. Since their last meeting, Kay Lee Ray has competed across the world, been featured on TV and become a completely different person. Mickie James will be a very tough opponent for Kay Lee Ray. Hopefully, Mickie James realises just what she faces in the unforgiving Kay Lee Ray of today. The premise of Spacebaws is to give the young stars of ICW the chance to shine and two men whose stars are shining bright right now are Lewis Girvan and Aspen Faith. While Girvan has been a part of Insane Championship Wrestling for a few years, Aspen Faith has only made himself known to ICW fans in 2015. This match will be a great showcase of what the future and indeed the present has to look forward to in ICW.

Wrestle Ropes' Ready For The Weekend (24th-26th July 2015)

Another weekend, another pack schedule of events. So let's get started on just a few shows coming up this weekend.

To kick off the weekend, on Friday night, Grand Pro Wrestling are in action at their regular haunt of The Rose Club in Hindley, Wigan with Cruel Summer. Right at the top of the card is Bubblegum defending the GPW Championship against Craig Kollins. 'The One Man Riot' has had a hell of a debut year in GPW, arguably the best of any in the history of the promotion. He has defeated everyone put in his path in 2015. That being said he's now facing one of the best in GPW and in Europe right now in the shape of Bubblegum. Kollins has the opportunity to become a GPW champion in less than a year but to do so he'll have to be at the top of his game to beat the man at the top of GPW. Another man who is at the top of his game is 'The Grappler' Jack Gallagher. Without question Gallagher is one of the finest if not thee finest technical, pure wrestler in Europe at present. His opponent is a young man by the name of 'The Priority' Chris Ridgeway, who has had some great matches with some of the best in Europe this year and beaten quite a few of them. Ridgeway is a star on the rise, Gallagher is a star that is burning bright. On Friday, these two stars are going to collide and it'll be explosive. The Bad Lads and the Midnight Bin Collection have had a storied rivalry over the past few months in Grand Pro Wrestling, with wins going back and for the between the two teams. It has now come to a point that their issues need to be settled and they may very well be on July 24th when The Bad Lads defend the GPW Tag Team Championship against former champions, Midnight Bin Collection in a Dumpster match. Whether their issues will be settled or not is unknown. What is known is that one team is walking out of Cruel Summer with the gold, while the other will be wheeled out with the trash. All of this plus a GPW British Championship defence, the continuation of the North West Rookie League and a lot more takes place this Friday night in Hindley, Wigan.

Moving on to Saturday and we're faced the familiar dilemma of too many shows to just pick one... so we picked two! Up first on Saturday we have Empress Pro Wrestling hosting their inaugural Empress Pro Invitational Tournament in High Wycombe at the Art4Every1 Centre. The tournament consists of four qualifying matches with the the winners moving forward to a four-way final match. One of the qualifying matches scheduled to take place will see fellow Irish competitors, Katey Harvey and Rhia O'Reilly face one-on-one. Both of these wrestlers are exceptionally talented. While Rhia O'Reilly has appeared all over the UK and US and is rightly one of Ireland's best wrestling exports. Katey Harvey is probably lesser known to those in the UK. However, this match will be no walk in the park for O'Reilly. Katey Harvey is a highly-talented individual who will push Rhia O'Reilly to the maximum. Anyone unfamiliar with Harvey before the show, will be very aware of the talent and skills she possesses by the end of it, regardless of the match result. Another qualifying match taking place on Saturday will feature Kay Lee Ray and Sammi Baynz. For as gifted as both these women are, they have never face each other despite them collectively winning eight championships during their careers so far. There is a very high chance that one of these two competitors will add the EPI2015 trophy to their list of accomplishments on July 25th. Taking a step away from tournament matches, on Saturday there shall be a tag team match that will determine which pair of 'besties' are better when Nadia Sapphire & Faith Lehaine of Team Superficial take on The Bae Club's Sammii Jayne & Debbie Sharpe. Both these teams say they are the best, on Saturday in High Wycombe, one of them is going to prove it. Add in two other qualifying matches featuring Chardonnay and Courtney plus Violet Vendetta and Addy Starr and then the four-way final, Empress Pro look set to deliver a great inaugural tournament.

Also taking place on Saturday we have Shropshire Wrestling Alliance's Summer BlowOut 2015 at the Dawley Town Hall in Telford. If you're a fan of young rising talent then you'll not want to miss Chris Ridgeway vs Will Opreay. Now we've already spoke about Ridgeway earlier and how his star is on the rise right now. His opponent, Will Osrpeay is another who has limitless possibilities in their future. Both men are going further afield, picking up wins and having matches that leave people talking. On Saturday we'll see which one can pick up the win against the other. July 25th will also see former best friends become opponents when Pete Dunne competes against Ryan Smile in Dawley, Telford. This match came about when the current SWA Heavyweight champion, Joey Sanchez announced that Smile would be facing his former friend, undoubtedly as a way to stop Ryan Smile cashing-in his championship opportunity. If Smile wants to get the championship then he shall have to put his old rivalry with the 'Bitter & Twisted' Pete Dunne to rest. Speaking of championship opportunities, Chris Brookes, Damian Dunne, Eric Ryan & Dan Moloney will compete in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs match with the winner earning a championship match of their choosing. Moloney, Brookes & Dunne could all argue their right to a championship match based on previous performances. However with the added unknown of CZW regular Eric Ryan plus legalised weapons, it could well come down to who is the most resilient to decide who wins the opportunity. Add in matches featuring Mark Haskins, Nixon Newell, Chuck Cyrus & Toni Storm and SWA are on track to deliver once again.

On Sunday night, Insane Championship Wrestling make their return to the O2 ABC in Glasgow for Shug's Hoose Party II, as part of their Waynestock weekend that will see them hit the Community Central Halls (also in Glasgow) the night before for Long Before Wesley Snipes. The 55 are a group of men who have run roughshot in ICW for months, attacking who they choose, when they choose. One of the men then have particularly focused on however, is Grado. The 55 have seen Grado as everything they are against and have never passed up the opportunity to show that. On Sunday night, Grado will face possibly the most dangerous man of The 55, Bram. Grado has never been one to back down from a fight and the fight will be taken to him on July 26th. It's unlikely that this will end this feud but maybe Grado can send a message and overcome The 55. Back in January, Dickie Divers won the Square Go and a guaranteed Heavyweight Championship match. The only issue with his win is that he eliminated his New Age Kliq brother, Chris Renfrew to do it. Renfrew didn't like that. From that point on, Chris Renfrew has descended into a deeper, darker place till his only focus was Dickie Divers and his destruction. Dickie Divers now stands alone in ICW and Chris Renfrew is more dangerous than he has ever been. Renfrew wants the Square Go contract but he wants to destroy Dickie Divers just as much. If Divers is to keep the contract, he'll need to not only win the ladder match this Sunday but survive Chris Renfrew. In the main event we shall see Big Damo challenge Drew Galloway for the ICW World Heavyweight Championship. Big Damo has been on a roll in ICW for months, demolishing opponent after opponent. While Drew Galloway has been defending the ICW World Championship all over the world. Big Damo feels that his isn't respect by Galloway or those in control of ICW. Galloway is undoubtly once of the most in-demand and talented wrestlers in the world. On Sunday, Big Damo is guaranteeing to prove to everyone what he already knows. That he can be the ICW World Heavyweight champion and not Drew Galloway or ICW can stop that from happening. All of this plus matches involving Joe Coffey, Sha Samuels, Mark Coffey, Jackie Polo, Kenny Williams and not forgetting the wedding of DCT & Viper takes place in Glasgow at the old out O2 ABC.

Wrestle Ropes' Ready for the Weekend (17th July-19th July 2015)

Some weekends are quiet event-wise and other weekends are jam packed with shows. This weekend is very much the latter so let's highlight just a few shows taking place and get Ready For The Weekend.

On Friday night, HOPE Wrestling are kicking off a double show weekend to celebrate their second anniversary. Night one of their supershow weekend takes place at the Forest Town Arena in Mansfield. Right at the top of the bill is a six-way match to crown the first ever HOPE champion with every competitor (Joseph Conners, El Ligero, Ryan Smile, Jack Jester, LJ Heron & Chris Tyler) in the match in with as much chance as the next of taking the championship home. Also on the show is 'The Masterpiece' Chris Masters taking on the behemoth that is Big Damo. Very few matches take place where Masters could be considered the smaller of the two but Damo really is that big! In a match which could be the one that everyone remembers most, Joey Hayes takes on 'Global Hero' Joe Hendry. In fact the match has so much potential, we'd go to the show just for it. Also competing on the card are Lionheart, Bubblegum, Martin Kirby, Viper, Jimmy Havoc, Viper and a whole lot more. HOPE Wrestling returns on Saturday also, with another show in Mansfield, this time at the Clipstone Social Club.

Moving on to Saturday and Southside Wrestling are back in Stevenage with Great Expectations. Now this show is well named as it is dripping with goodness! First up we have 'The Righteous' Joseph Conners defending the Heavyweight Championship against the returning Rockstar Spud in the main event. Now Conners is good, in fact he is great. However he is also very cunning and clever when it comes to competing. On Saturday, he is facing a man who has spent time in the ring with some of the finest wrestling talent in the world, most notable Kurt Angle in recent weeks. This could well be the biggest test yet for the leader of The Righteous Army. Speaking of The Righteous Army, Kay Lee Ray will compete against one of the best and most decorated champions in professional wrestling in the shape of Gail Kim. Kay Lee Ray has faced some of the best wrestlers around, she herself is one of the best wrestlers competing today, the question is, which one of these two is coming out on top? If the last match is guilty of being too close to call, then the Monsters Ball match between Abyss & Jimmy Havoc is guilty of being too violent to imagine. It's incomprehensible as to what these two men will do to each other in Stevenage. Both appear to enjoy the feeling of pain as much as dishing it out the their opponent. Will it be the man who invented the Monsters Ball match, Abyss or will be it the man who says he can't be killed as he is already dead inside, Jimmy Havoc? On Saturday, we find out.

Sunday sees Kamikaze Pro back at the The Cadbury Club in Bournville, Birmingham for Monster. One of the stand out matches scheduled for the show is The Hunter Brothers defence of the Kamikaze Pro Tag Team Championship against the duo of Martin Kirby and 'The Mexican Sensation' El Ligero. The Hunter Brothers are easily one of the best tag teams in th UK right now. But their opponents, have had a good amount of success as a tag team in the past. This is a challenge for The Hunters and a great opportunity for Project Lucha. On the theme of a challenge, the biggest one could in front of Marshall X this Sunday as he'll be defend the Relentless Division Championship against five other men. And these men aren't just somebody you've never heard of before. Damian Dunne, Ryan Smile, Chris Brookes, Dan Moloney and Ethan Silver would all provide a challenge individually. Having all five in the same match makes Marshall X's challenge his greatest yet. Now we try to describe a match the best we can, however we don't think there are words to describe the match of Sebastian Radclaw vs Chardonnay. It could be technical, it could be high-flying, it will undoubtedly be unmissable! Add to that another appearance from Abyss, this time tackling death match specialist Clint Margera and you've got one of the strongest card's we've seen out of the promotion.

Wrestle Ropes Ready for the Weekend (10th July - 12th July 2015)

Another week is almost over, the weekend upon us which means another plethora of wrestling events here in the British Isles. It's time to get Ready For The Weekend!

Friday night will see Fight Club: PRO back at The Planet Nightclub in Wolverhampton with their Rockstar show. The event will feature a tag team match between the teams of Eddie Dennis & Mike Bird and Wild Boar & Dan Moloney. Each one of these men are known for their hard-hitting offence so combined together it may be advisable to protect your beer glass from the impeding shockwaves when these two teams go at it on July 10th. From hard-hitting to technical finery, Trent Seven competes against Jack Gallagher in a match that will no doubt be a contender for Match Of The Night when two of the most technically gifted wrestlers in the UK meet in Wolverhampton. And what would an event be without some animosity and there is plenty of it between Chris Brookes & Nixon Newell. The former tag team partners and friends have become the bitterest of enemies in the past few months as Brookes become soley focused on himself and the Infinity Trophy. Will this war end on Friday night when these two compete? Who knows but a battle is 100% guaranteed. Add in the addition of current TNA star Rockstar Spud  making his return to Fight Club: PRO in six man action and a title defense for Champ MK McKinnan and it looks to be another unmissable show.

On Saturday night, Pride Wrestling will be back at the Bridgeton Community Centre in Glasgow with their We Aim To Misbehave... Again event. The first WATM show took place last year and featured a night of challenges, where anything could happen. On July 11th, history looks set to repeat itself with another packed show. Firstly we have the always outspoken, Jackie Polo defending the Pride Championship against 'The Beast Of Belfast' Damo O'Connor in the main event. Polo won the championship in dubious circumstances after cashing-in his championship contract on a exhausted Mikey Whiplash, immediately following his win over Glen Dunbar. However on Saturday he'll have his biggest defence yet, literally. 'The Beast Of Belfast' has been on a path of destruction in previous months and Polo could be next on Big Damo's demolition list. From one championship to another as DCT will cash-in his 24/7 contract for an N7 Championship against Chris Renfrew in what shall be Renfrew's first defence since winning the title in May. Also set to take place is Christopher Saynt accepting the challenge laid down by Matt Daly for a match. Daly has made his intentions clear against The Gatecrasher, on Saturday we'll see if he can carry them out. Add in matches featuring the likes of Viper, Mike Musso & Ryan Griffin just to name a few and it looks set to be another historic night in Pride Wrestling's history when wars are ended and new ones begin.

Moving on to Sunday, IPW:UK shall be in attendance at The Angel Centre in Tonbridge, Kent with Title Showdown. If there is one thing that IPW:UK do and do well, it's put on high quality, consistent events. Sunday looks to be no different with a varied match card on offer. First up we have Danny Duggan & Cieran Donnelly challenging the ever dominant team of The London Riots for the IPW:UK Tag Team Championship. In a match between two legends of British Wrestling, Doug Williams will compete in a match against Johnny Saint. Both men are deserving of the term legend and an opportunity to see either man, let alone both in the same match should not be missed by anyone. From one style to another, Sunday will also see international star, Mr Anderson team with the unusual duo of Jonathan Windsor & The Mexican Eagle to face the trio of Sha Samuels, Sebastian & Tom Irvin in a six-man tag team match. All of this plus a IPW:UK World Championship defence by Bad Bones against a mystery opponent and matches involving Iestyn Rees, Grado, Jonny Storm & Will Ospreay.

WrestleRopes's Ready for the Weekend: July 2015 Week 1 - VII Pro, LCW & NGW

Last week we delivered our first article for Across The Pond and they liked it so much they've asked us back again. So let's get Ready For The Weekend!

On Friday night, new promotion, VII Pro Wrestling host their debut event, Shots Fired, at The Hive in Shrewsbury. For a first outing, VII Pro certainly aren't holding back with the matches or the talent involved. One of the matches confirmed will see Damian Dunne facing Bubblegum. Now stand-out matches on shows will often feature one of these two men so combined it can't fail to be a recipe for success. VII Pro have already shown a strong working relationship with Shropshire Wrestling Alliance and that is further solidified with Tyler Bate scheduled to defend the SWA British Lions Championship against Chris Ridgeway this Friday. A third match announced for VII Pro's debut will feature one of British Wrestling's under-utilised gems in the shape of Mike Bird. Now Bird is a hell of a wrestler and has played a part in the training of some of the UK's best young talent such as Nixon Newell. The 'Ginger Jesus' will have a tough task ahead of him though as he faces Ryan Smile, a man himself who faces some of the best in Britain on a weekly basis. Other names confirmed for the show are Violet Vendetta, Nixon Newell, Chris Brookes and Drew Parker to name a few.

 Saturday sees Leicester Championship Wrestling back at their home venue of the Brockington College in Leicester for Summertime. Very few shows can boast a guaranteed new champion but LCW can this Saturday a they shall be holding a four-way match between Chris Tyler, HC Dyer, Ryan Smile & TK Hayward to crown the inaugural LCW Young Guns champion. Speaking of champions, Joseph Conners will be defending the LCW Heavyweight Championship against bitter enemy, Alex Gracie on the 4th of July. And if you like your wrestling of the heavyweight variety then you'll not go far wrong when 'The Heavyweight House Of Pain' Stixx takes on Barricade.The show also features The Hunter Brothers defend their tag team titles against Cooper Nation 2.0, plus matches involving Xander Cooper, Jimmy Meadows, Paul Malen and a lot more UK talent.

On the subject of talent, a place you'll always see so much talent that you could shake a tree at it, never mind a stick, is New Generation Wrestling. On Sunday, NGW are back at the Hull City Hall with Ultimate Showdown. Now as you'll have seen, we focus on about 3 matches from each one of the shows we highlight. This show has so many amazing matches on it, we've literally spent an hour trying to just pick three! Sitting right at the top of the card is the NGW Championship match between current champion, Rampage Brown and the challenger, Nathan Cruz. We could say thee two men don't like each other, it wouldn't do it justice. They hate each other, to the point that Rampage Brown has told Cruz he ha signed his own death warrant by asking for it. Then to continue the theme of bad blood, we have The London Riots defending the NGW Tag Team Championship against Stixx & Colossus Kennedy. The Riots defeated Britain's Biggest Tag Team for the belts, breaking Kennedy's leg en route to the win so proved they'll go to any length to win. However, Stixx & Colossus have also demonstrated in the past few months that they'll do whatever it takes to get revenge and the championship back. This is the point where we really became to struggle on choosing a third match from the five remaining. So in the end we decided that none of the five needed us to 'build them up' (not that any of the others did either!) as they were great matches themselves. So we'll simply tell you them. Dara Diablo is facing Matt Myers, Mark Haskins competes against Justin Sysum. Bubblegum, El Ligero & Wild Boar are facing off in a triple threat match, Joseph Conners is facing Morgan Webster and last but certainly not least, Dan James & Liam Slater are facing The Proven's Caz Crash & Sam Wilder in a tag team match. Now you see the problems we had!
