Wrestle Ropes' Ready for the Weekend: September 2016 Week One - TCW, LCW & IPW:UK

This weekend we are back with another dose of wrestling goodness which shall see us travel to Darlington on Friday night. That is followed by a trip to Leicester on Saturday before a final stop on Sunday to Tonbridge in Kent. Let's get Ready For The Weekend!

We kick off the weekend on Friday night when TIDAL Championship Wrestling return to The Dolphin Centre in Darlington with Come Out & Play. The event is scheduled to see three of their four championships on the line.

The first championship defense will be the Tag Team Championship currently held by Caz Crash and Sam Wilder of The Proven. They'll be defending against the relativity new duo of The Service's Sean Only and Daniel James. The Tag Team Championship have been fought for by a number of teams since it's inception but this is the first time that The Service have challenged. The Proven have been worthy champions, picking up a win over Go Team Sports (Ace Matthews & David Graves) at July's High Tide 2016. The Service would really like to become champions as their whole intention in TCW is to cause trouble. Holding gold would be a key component of them achieving that goal.

The next championship up for grab this Friday is the Women's Championship. The champion, Violet O'Hara maybe be small in stature but she easily makes up for that in fight. She's took on all comers in recent months and in Darlington will face Little Miss Roxxy. LMS has a great foundation as she was trained by current TCW Champion, Rampage Brown and British Wrestling legend, Marty Jones. O'Hara is probably going to need all that fight she has in her this Friday when she faces LMS who will be look for her first championship reign.

The third and final title being defended in Darlington is the Open Championship which is round the waist of Liam Slater at this present time. His challenger is one of the most highly regarded young stars in British Wrestling, “The Righteous” Joseph Conners. Both these men are looked upon as the next big stars of British Wrestling but for their match this Friday they will be doing things in a more traditional way. Their match will be contested under World Of Sport Rules. The match will be broken down into six 5-minute rounds. A round can be won by pinfall, submission, disqualification, etc. The first man to score 2 falls in the match will be the winner. These matches are the way that champions were decided in previous years and it seems almost fitting that a way of tradition shall decide a champion for the future.

Moving on to Saturday and Leicester Championship Wrestling host Face Off 2016 at their home, Brockington College in Enderby, Leicester. This event will be the last that owner, John Shipley will be in control for as a new owner will take control afterwards. The event certainly won't be a quiet one with numerous championship defences and a Money In The Bank match all taking place.

One champion who will be action twice is “The Heavyweight House Of Pain” Stixx. Firstly, he'll be defending the LCW Championship against “The Heat” LJ Heron. “The Heat” is a dangerous man who can strike from almost anywhere and with devastating effect. His spear has defeated almost everyone at some point and he'll look to use it against Stixx to win the LCW Championship.

Whether Stixx does walk away still champion or not, he'll be back in the ring later that night when he joins his partner, Joseph Conner to defend the Tag Team Championship against The Alpha Brothers [Johnny Alpha & Ricky Alpha]. This is the first time that Stixx and Conners will make a championship defense together and they'll hope it to be successful against the brotherly duo of The Alpha Brothers who are gunning for the gold.

Anyone who is still a champion this Saturday after their matches will have to keep one eye open for the Money In The Bank holder who will be decided this Saturday. Xander Cooper, Gabriel Kidd, Alex Gracie, Chris Tyler, Paul Malen and Jim Hunter will all participate in this year's match with a blend of experience and youth. Anyone in this match is more than capable of winning and no one is a real favoruite. Whoever does win, could well be guaranteed to be a future champion.

We round of the wrestling weekend on Sunday with IPW:UK celebrating their 12th anniversary at The Angel Centre in Tonbridge.

The event is probably the last time that Noam Dar will be competing for IPW:UK due to him joining WWE's Monday Night RAW roster in the very near future. He'll be going up against “The British Messiah” Timothy Thatcher, the current EVOLVE Champion. Both of these men are flying high in their careers right now and this match will be a great showcase of both men will be a real treat for those attending.

Back at Royale Rewards in August, Tom Dawkins and Zack Gibson and a blistering match which only ended because they reached the 20-minute time limit. While the match showed that they can match each over at ever instance, we never found out who was the better man that night. Well this Sunday we shall as these two men compete once again but this time with no time limit. This match will go until there is a winner and it's time to see how far these men can go.

The main event this Sunday will see a situation that has been on-going for a number of months come to a head. Sammy Smooth has been attempting to challenge for the World Championship since winning the Royale Rewards. Be it either Joseph Conners not being in attendance or heat of the moment decisions, Smooth hasn't yet managed to have a fair match. This Sunday while he won't be fighting for gold, he'll be out to prove a point as Smooth, Scott Star and The London Riots (James Davis & Rob Lynch) will face Conners, Jimmy Havoc and The Swords Of Essex (Paul Robinson & Scotty "Essex" Wainwright) in an 8-man no disqualification tag team match. To say there are a lot of variables and opportunities in this match would be an understatement. While Smooth will be looking to get a win over either Havoc or Conners, London Riots could get themselves a shot at the Tag Team Championship if they manage to get the win over The S.o.E. While this Sunday is a celebration for IPW:UK of the previous 12 years, it could also show us where the future is heading.

Match Card

8-Man No Disqualification Tag Team Match
Jimmy Havoc, “The Righteous” Joseph Conners & The Swords Of Essex (Paul Robinson & Scott Wainwright) vs SmoothStar (“Smooth” Sammy Smooth & Scott Star) & The London Riots (Rob Lynch & James Davis)

No Time Limit Singles Match
“Blackbelt” Tom Dawkins vs “Liverpool’s No.1” Zack Gibson

Tag Team Match for Tag Team Championship #1 Contendership

Singles Match
Adam “Flex” Maxted vs Kid Fite

Singles Match

Wrestle Ropes' Ready for the Weekend: January 2015 Week 5 - TCW, NGW & ICW

Well last weekend did not disappoint with major championships changing hands and new reigns beginning. Moving on to this weekend and we see Tidal Championship Wrestling and New Generation Wrestling kicking off their 2016 schedules while Insane Championship Wrestling celebrate their 100th show. Let's get Ready For The Weekend!

Kicking off the weekend on Friday night and Tidal Championship Wrestling are back at The Dolphin Centre in Darlington with 'New Year's Revolution'. The show will be the first of 2016  for TCW and will see El Ligero defend the TCW Championship for the first time since winning it back in December. His challenger will be Darlington's own, Perfect Purdie. Even though Purdie shall be be considered an underdog to the champion, he possesses a great set of skills, of which Ligero has requested the chance to test himself against. One match on the card with an element of the unknown is Kirsty Love vs Miss Roxxy. Both these wrestlers will be making their first appearance for TCW and shall be wanting to leave a good impression. After a war of words, this match has become a little more personal so it should be expected that the contest will have a bit more spice than your usual competitive match. If you like your wrestlers with an attitude then Dan James and HT Drake are the wrestlers for you. Whilst James may be the TCW Open Champion, he is not what you would call a happy person. The challenger for the championship, Drake is known for having a bad attitude and a general dislike for pretty much everything. So on Friday, the champion may be even more miserable if he loses, or the challenger might see things in a better frame of mind if he wins. But we doubt it.

Moving on to Saturday and New Generation Wrestling return to the Pudsey Civic Hall with Full Force and full force the show shall be with a lot of feuds and rivalries being fought over. Two men with a great deal of bad blood between them are Rampage Brown and Zack Gibson. These two men have being going back and forth for a few months now with them both on a quest for the NGW Undisputed Championship. In late 2015, Gibson took a DQ win over Brown which didn't help settle their issues so they will once against meet in the squared circle but this time a shot at the NGW Undisputed Championship will be on the line. Speaking of the NGW Undisputed Championship, Nathan Cruz shall be defending the gold on January 30th in Pudsey. His challenger will be Lionheart, who claims that if their match didn't end in a draw thanks to a mass brawl breaking out, he would have beaten the champion. With that being the case, NGW management have decided to see if Lionheart can back up what he claims. On Saturday night, Cruz puts the championship on the line against a man who says he's got him beat. One other match scheduled for this Saturday will see GenX competitors, Wild Boar and Flash Morgan Webster competing one on one. Each man has a very different type of in-ring style with Boar being a very hard-hitting competitor and Webster known for his fast-paced, high-flying style. While it will be a clash of styles, it'll be also certainly be a full on contest with both men looking to pick up a win and a possible future shot at the GenX Championship.

Finally ending the wrestling weekend on Sunday night and Insane Championship Wrestling celebrate their 100th show at The Garage in Glasgow with a Friday Night Fight Club TV taping. Recent tapings of ICW's Friday Night Fight Club have seen some great matches taking place and this Sunday looks to be no different with three championships being defended, two of which will be the first defence of the current champion. Chris Renfrew may have only won the ICW World Heavyweight Championship last weekend but he will be in action on January 31st when his championship will be on the line against former champion, Mikey Whiplash. These two men had issues for a number of months in 2015 with it culminating (or so we thought) at Fear & Loathing VIII in a steel cage match where the NAK faced Legion. However this rivalry looks to be reignited with championship gold being added into the mix. Renfrew has finally reached to top of the mountain in ICW, now he has to fight the monsters that are hunting him and the ICW World Heavyweight Championship he holds. Another champion will be defending their championship for the first time will be Carmel. It seems only fitting that ICW original, Carmel would defend the ICW Women's Championship on such a landmark show. Her challenger, Sammii Jayne is a wrestler that is making a name for herself not just in ICW but in British Wrestling in general. Now under the tutelage of Nikki Storm, Sammii is looking for gold. Carmel has been a part of some of ICW's most historic moments, she will be looking to start her championship reign with a win otherwise she might be part of a historic moment she did not expect. At a previous edition of Friday Night Fight Club, BT Gunn and Kenny Williams put on a show-stealing performances that had everyone talking. So ICW have decided to let both men go at it one more time. It was the former ICW Zero-G Champion, Williams who took the win in their last outing. Gunn will be looking to even the score this Sunday with Williams setting out to prove he's got the number of the two-time ICW Heavyweight Champion.

Wrestle Ropes' Ready for the Weekend: December 2015 Week 2

This week's edition will be slightly different from normal as we won't be looking at one show from Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Instead we'll have a brief look at all the shows taking place. Let's get Ready For The Weekend!

On Friday night, Rock N Wrestle will be at the Ironworks in Inverness with Winter Slam 2015. The show will feature TNA & NXT star, James Storm who will be facing Kid Fite. Grado shall also be in action on December 11th as he competes against Liam Thomson. Fans will get to be involved as they choose the stipulation of the match between Aspen Faith and Crusher Craib. The Rock N Wrestle Highland Champion, Jack Jester, Big Damo & BT Gunn are also scheduled to appear during the show.

Heading south to Bristol and Pro Evolution Wrestling will be at the Merchant's Academy. Pro Evolution Wrestling have had a great year, delivering shows month in, month out. At their last show, Justin Sysum defeated Joel Redman to become the new Pro EVW Heavyweight Champion, proving that anything can happen at any show.

Another promotion that has had a killer year has been Britannia Wrestling Promotions. On Friday night they will host the last show of 2015, which marks their 7th year as a promotion. Lots of feuds and lots of fights have taken place this year. Chances are that more will take place on December 11th in the Penyffordd Legion.

Moving on to Saturday and RAD:PRO Wrestling are back at the Chuter Ede CA in South Shields with the season finale, EmbryoniX 3.9. The show will feature Mr Society defending the EmbryoniX Championship against an opponent to be announced on the night. The winner of that match will want to keep an eye on the over the top rope battle royale as the winner will be the new number one contender to the EmbryoniX Championship. December 12th will see former allies Paddy Flannagan and Vulture face off after Vulture joined the Social Order. All those matches plus James Scott, Steve The Pirate and a lot more will be in action.

Pro Wrestling Elite are at the Citadel Leisure Centre in Ayr on Saturday night with Jingle All The Galloway. They have a packed card with the main event seeing Drew Galloway face Dave Mastiff. Grado will also be in action defending the Pro Wrestling Elite Heavyweight Championship against Joey Hayes. Speaking of heavyweight, Damo, Joe Coffey, Iestyn Rees & Noam Dar will also compete in a four-way match. Action from NXT's James Storm, Wolfgang, Chris Renfrew, Mark Coffey, El Ligero and Joe Hendry guarantees a cracking show in Ayr.

Not content with one nigh of action, Pro Evolution Wrestling move on to Worchester on Saturday night with another show. As we said before, Pro Evolution Wrestling have had a great year and they'll look to end it on another high, this time at Perdiswell Leisure Centre.

Leicester Championship Wrestling are at the home of Brockington College on December 12th with their final event of the calendar. Christmas Cracker 15 will see all of LCW's championship on the line with Joseph Conners defending the LCW Heavyweight Championship against Alex Gracie. The Hunter Brothers will challenge DNA's Cy Gregory & Mark Massa for the LCW Tag Team Championship. Finally, Chris Tyler will be in action as he defend the LCW Young Guns Championship against Paul Malen. Even more action takes place with Stixx, Xander Cooper and many more in competition.

Finally finishing up the weekend and Tidal Wrestling host Silent Nightmare – End Of Days at the Leeds University Union. The show will be main event by Dara Diablo defending the TCW Championship against Liam Lazarus and El Ligero. This match would be show-stealing on any show but with the added dynamic that there shall be no DQ or count out in the match, this may indeed be the End Of Days. Speaking of championships, Sam Wilder will be defending the TCW Open Championship for the first time. His opponent is the ever growing and evolving Chris Ridgeway. If Wilder is successful in his defence then his Proven partner, Caz Crash will then defend the championship against Dan James later on in the night. It's another packed show from Tidal Wrestling with Tommy End, Rampage Brown, Martin Kirby, Nathan Cruz, Pete Dunne and Joseph Conners being just a few of those in action.

That wraps up this week's preview of the weekend's wrestling schedule. Of course, there are many more events taking place over the three days. To find out more about the shows we've highlighted here as well as all the others, check us out at www.wrestleropesuk.wordpress.com for the latest show and match announcements, British Wrestling event list and more!

Wrestle Ropes' Ready for the Weekend: September 2014 Week 2

Firstly we must apologise to Across The Pond Wrestling and readers of these articles for the lateness of this week's edition. Solely due to real life getting in the way. However, let's move on to wrestling life and get Ready For The Weekend!

Kicking off the weekend on Friday night, Target Wrestling are back at The Venue in Carlisle, Cumbria. The event will feature international star, 'The Hurricane' Shane Helms teaming with, the always impressive, Mark Coffey to face the duo of T-Bone & Bubblegum. Helms has won numerous championships during his career and Mark Coffey in a bona-fide world class athlete in his own right, whilst their opponents are no strangers to each other and have been partners on numerous occasions. This should be a great action filled match for all to see. The Target Wrestling Heavyweight Championship is also on the line on September 11th when Joe Coffey defends against a surprise opponent. Originally scheduled to face Kris Travis who unfortunately had to withdraw due to a stomach injury, Coffey now faces the unknown but the 'Iron Man' has never been scared of a fight and shall welcome the challenge. For months, Alexander Henry has caused chaos in Target Wrestling with his cohorts. Now aligned with Jason Prime and Rampage Brown, they are set to face a group who live to cause chaos, The New Age Kliq's Stevie Xavier, BT Gunn & Wolfgang. These groups have a real dislike for each other and Carlisle may not be able to withstand the inevitable war that is coming this Friday.

Moving on to Saturday and Tidal Championship Wrestling host their final event at The Dolphin Centre in Darlington, County Durham, Last Dance. One match of interest at the event is Martin Kirby vs. HT Drake. Now Kirby is considered one of the best wrestlers in the UK and rightfully so, HT Drake on the other hand is a great up and coming talent from the North East of England. This will be great test for the young HT Drake against such an experienced opponent. At Spring Storm Dan James and Dan Evans were tag team partners. Move on a few months and these two are now no longer partners or even friends. They have their differences and the only way to resolve them is to fight it out on September 12th. In the main event, Liam Lazarus puts the TCW Championship on the line against the first ever champion, 'The Mexican Sensation' El Ligero. These men have faced each other in TCW twice before with both holding a victory over the other. Now it's time for the rubber match with the gold up for grabs.

On Sunday, PROGRESS Wrestling are back with another edition of their ENDVR franchise which is now holding it's 12th show, at the Garage in Islington, London. A place in the Natural Progression Series will be up for grabs when the very unique Jack Sexsmith faces Australia's Josh Shooter. Shooter is a world-travelled athlete and Sexsmith has become a a real fan favourite in the ENDVR ranks. This is a big test for Sexsmith but one he'll want to overcome to gain entry to the Electric Ballroom in the near future. At PTNTL:2, Jinny demanded that she be given a tougher challenge in her next match. PROGRESS being a company that listens went and found Jinny a bigger challenge in the shape of Toni Storm. Jinny and Storm have crossed paths before when Jinny interfered in a match between Toni and Elizabeth, Jinny's PA. Now the woman the fans have christened the "Primark Princess" gets the chance to face a tougher challenge and Toni Storm gets a chance to gain some revenge. In possibly the strangest combination of characters in wrestling, Pastor William Eaver & Chuck Mambo are back in tag team action against one of the most decorated tag teams in British Wrestling today, The London Riots. Sweet Jesus have scored some big wins during their tag team career. The London Riots would be a huge team to defeat but it won't come easy.

That wraps up this week's preview of the weekend's wrestling schedule. Of course, there are many more events taking place over the three days. To find out more about the shows we've highlighted here as well as all the others, check us out at www.wrestleropesuk.wordpress.com for the latest show and match announcements, British Wrestling event list and more.
