Wrestle Ropes' Ready for the Weekend: September 2016 Week One - TCW, LCW & IPW:UK

This weekend we are back with another dose of wrestling goodness which shall see us travel to Darlington on Friday night. That is followed by a trip to Leicester on Saturday before a final stop on Sunday to Tonbridge in Kent. Let's get Ready For The Weekend! 

We kick off the weekend on Friday night when TIDAL Championship Wrestling return to The Dolphin Centre in Darlington with Come Out & Play. The event is scheduled to see three of their four championships on the line. 

The first championship defense will be the Tag Team Championship currently held by Caz Crash and Sam Wilder of The Proven. They'll be defending against the relativity new duo of The Service's Sean Only and Daniel James.The Tag Team Championship have been fought for by a number of teams since it's inception but this is the first time that The Service have challenged. The Proven have been worthy champions, picking up a win over Go Team Sports (Ace Matthews & David Graves) at July's High Tide 2016. The Service would really like to become champions as their whole intention in TCW is to cause trouble. Holding gold would be a key component of them achieving that goal. 

The next championship up for grab this Friday is the Women's Championship. The champion, Violet O'Hara maybe be small in stature but she easily makes up for that in fight. She's took on all comers in recent months and in Darlington will face Little Miss Roxxy. LMS has a great foundation as she was trained by current TCW Champion, Rampage Brown and British Wrestling legend, Marty Jones. O'Hara is probably going to need all that fight she has in her this Friday when she faces LMS who will be look for her first championship reign. 

The third and final title being defended in Darlington is the Open Championship which is round the waist of Liam Slater at this present time. His challenger is one of the most highly regarded young stars in British Wrestling, “The Righteous” Joseph Conners. Both these men are looked upon as the next big stars of British Wrestling but for their match this Friday they will be doing things in a more traditional way. Their match will be contested under World Of Sport Rules. The match will be broken down into six 5-minute rounds. A round can be won by pinfall, submission, disqualification, etc. The first man to score 2 falls in the match will be the winner. These matches are the way that champions were decided in previous years and it seems almost fitting that a way of tradition shall decide a champion for the future.

Moving on to Saturday and Leicester Championship Wrestling host Face Off 2016 at their home, Brockington College in Enderby, Leicester. This event will be the last that owner, John Shipley will be in control for as a new owner will take control afterwards. The event certainly won't be a quiet one with numerous championship defences and a Money In The Bank match all taking place. 

One champion who will be action twice is “The Heavyweight House Of Pain” Stixx. Firstly, he'll be defending the LCW Championship against “The Heat” LJ Heron. “The Heat” is a dangerous man who can strike from almost anywhere and with devastating effect. His spear has defeated almost everyone at some point and he'll look to use it against Stixx to win the LCW Championship. 

Whether Stixx does walk away still champion or not, he'll be back in the ring later that night when he joins his partner, Joseph Conner to defend the Tag Team Championship against The Alpha Brothers [Johnny Alpha & Ricky Alpha]. This is the first time that Stixx and Conners will make a championship defense together and they'll hope it to be successful against the brotherly duo of The Alpha Brothers who are gunning for the gold. 

Anyone who is still a champion this Saturday after their matches will have to keep one eye open for the Money In The Bank holder who will be decided this Saturday. Xander Cooper, Gabriel Kidd, Alex Gracie, Chris Tyler, Paul Malen and Jim Hunter will all participate in this year's match with a blend of experience and youth. Anyone in this match is more than capable of winning and no one is a real favoruite. Whoever does win, could well be guaranteed to be a future champion.

LCW Owner John Shipley Bids Farewell

We round of the wrestling weekend on Sunday with IPW:UK celebrating their 12th anniversary at The Angel Centre in Tonbridge. 

The event is probably the last time that Noam Dar will be competing for IPW:UK due to him joining WWE's Monday Night RAW roster in the very near future. He'll be going up against “The British Messiah” Timothy Thatcher, the current EVOLVE Champion. Both of these men are flying high in their careers right now and this match will be a great showcase of both men will be a real treat for those attending. 

Back at Royale Rewards in August, Tom Dawkins and Zack Gibson and a blistering match which only ended because they reached the 20-minute time limit. While the match showed that they can match each over at ever instance, we never found out who was the better man that night. Well this Sunday we shall as these two men compete once again but this time with no time limit. This match will go until there is a winner and it's time to see how far these men can go. 

The main event this Sunday will see a situation that has been on-going for a number of months come to a head. Sammy Smooth has been attempting to challenge for the World Championship since winning the Royale Rewards. Be it either Joseph Conners not being in attendance or heat of the moment decisions, Smooth hasn't yet managed to have a fair match. This Sunday while he won't be fighting for gold, he'll be out to prove a point as Smooth, Scott Star and The London Riots (James Davis & Rob Lynch) will face Conners, Jimmy Havoc and The Swords Of Essex (Paul Robinson & Scotty "Essex" Wainwright) in an 8-man no disqualification tag team match. To say there are a lot of variables and opportunities in this match would be an understatement. While Smooth will be looking to get a win over either Havoc or Conners, London Riots could get themselves a shot at the Tag Team Championship if they manage to get the win over The S.o.E. While this Sunday is a celebration for IPW:UK of the previous 12 years, it could also show us where the future is heading.

Wrestle Ropes' Ready for the Weekend: June 2016 Week 3 - PROGRESS, Absolute Wrestling & ICW (Andy Scotland)

After having a break for a fortnight due to real life taking over (damn this real life nonsense!) we are back and what a weekend we have coming up. Or to be more precise what a Sunday we have this weekend in British Wrestling. Anyway enough of this intro talking, let's get Ready For The Weekend!

First up on Sunday and an PROGRESS Wrestling are back up north against at The Ritz in Manchester for Chapter 31: All Hail The New Puritans. 

After Chapter 30:  Super Strong Style 16 was over, Chris Hero sent out a challenge to 'The Villain' Marty Scurll for this Sunday. After hearing what Scurll had said about him on commentary and that he didn't rate him as a top wrestler, Hero countered that with why is he a villain other than him calling himself one. Therefore, Hero has challenged Scurll to a match this Sunday for the PROGRESS Championship to show him why he should rate him as one of the best. 

Over a year ago, Damon Moser was a part of The Origin, however they quickly threw him out of the group before Dave Mastiff and Zack Gibson joined the ranks. If they thought that would be the last of Moser then they recently found out that is not the case. Moser has now decided it is the right time to gain some revenge on his former Origin team-mates and Gibson is the first on his list. Moser may have the fans behind him but Gibson does not come alone and will have Nathan Cruz in his corner in Manchester. While Gibson will look to stop Moser's retribution dead in it's tracks, Moser shall be looking to use Gibson to send a message straight to The Origin. 

This Sunday will see the climax of one of PROGRESS's longest running feuds in recent history when Pollyanna faces Dahlia Black. These two women have had matches for months. Black then involved her other half, TK Cooper into the mix to steal wins from Pollyanna. To counter this PROGRESS management firstly had "Flash" Morgan Webster team with Pollyanna to face The south Pacific Power Couple. Then Jack Sexsmith was the special referee in a match between the two yet still Cooper got involved. So now PROGRESS have scheduled one more match for this Sunday with the stipulation that if anyone interferes in the match then both Pollyanna and Black shall be fired from PROGRESS . This feud will end this Sunday in Manchester one way or another with no exceptions.

Also this Sunday, Absolute Wrestling will hold it's second show at NE6 Suite in Newcastle with The Championship Suspect. 

The event shall see the continuation of the Absolute Wrestling Championship tournament with two quarter final matches taking place. After "Flash" Morgan Webster was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to injury, Tyler Bate was announced to take his place and he'll be in action this Sunday when he faces 'The Gimmick Killer' HT Drake. Bate is a powerhouse of a wrestler while Drake is known for being rather aggressive in his offence. This match should be rather hard-hitting with added spice as the winner will move on to the semi-finals. 

The second quarter-final match taking place at the NE6 Suite will see Martin Kirby face Micky The Dragon. Both these men are local to the area so the crowd may be split on Sunday but both men will not give half measures in their quest to continue in the tournament and move close to the Absolute Wrestling Championship. 

Back at February's Wrestling Isn't Dead in South Shields, The British Empire's Prince Ameen and Assassin lost to Alexander Henry and Jason Prime of The New Nation. Since then, British Empire have been looking for a rematch and this Sunday they will get their opportunity. That opportunity will not be an easy one as they well know. New Nation are a dominant team not only in Absolute Wrestling but in British Wrestling as a whole. British Empire have a fire in their belly to even the scores with The New Nation. The question is, will it be enough to overcome the domination of The New Nation.

Finally on Sunday, Insane Championship Wrestling are holding another taping of their Friday Night Fight Club show at The Garage in Glasgow. These shows are usually packed with matches and this event looks to be no different with nine matches currently scheduled to take place. The show will see the continuation of the ICW Tag Team Championship tournament as well as two championship matches. 

The ICW Tag Team Championship tournament will see the return of the Sumerian Death Squad to ICW to face Mike Bird and Wild Boar. Bird and Boar made their ICW debut in Cardiff, Wales at Gladys the Groovy Mule back in March when they challenged for the ICW Tag Team Championship. Despite losing, they made an impression with everyone hence their inclusion in the tournament. The SDS are well known for their tag team wrestling and are considered one of the best in Europe. This will be an interesting match to see who does pick up the win as either team could be a serious contender to win the tournament. 

The first of two championship matches this Sunday will see Sammii Jayne challenge Carmel for the ICW Women's Championship in a Last Woman Standing match. This match came about after Carmel offered to defend the championship against Jayne. Jayne was quick to take up the offer after having a number of big wins in ICW recently, most notably over Nikki Storm which resulted in 'The Best In The Galaxy' leaving ICW. Carmel has been a fighting champion and has defended the title at every opportunity. While the opportunity is huge for Jayne this could be Carmel's biggest challenge to date as a champion. Add in the Last Woman Standing element in this match and it may come down to a battle of endurance over experience. 

From one fighting champion in Carmel to another in the ICW World Heavyweight Champion; 'The Beast Of Belfast' Big Damo. Damo won the championship in his homeland of Northern Ireland in February and since then has defend the championship in Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland, a feat that no-one has done before. This Sunday he puts his ICW World Heavyweight Championship on the line once again, this time against former champion, Grado. Both these men have been travelling all over the world in recent months so the moniker of World Champion would be very fitting for both. Grado will be looking to reach the top of the mountain again in ICW while Damo shall be looking to stay as the man-mountain of ICW for the foreseeable future.

Wrestle Ropes Ready for the Weekend (21st/22nd/23rd August 2015)

In this week's edition of Ready For The Weekend we have events where returns will take place, careers and championships are on the line and opportunities are up for grabs.

On Friday night, HOPE Wrestling host a bumper 8-match card, Evolution 27: You Ask About My Consience and I'll Offer you My Soul, at the Forest Town Arena in Mansfield. In the main event of the evening, Jack Jester shall defend the HOPE Championship against Lionheart. Jester became the first-ever HOPE champion after defeating five other men in an elimination match at Evolution 25: Am I More Than You Bargained For Yet? last month, whilst  Lionheart outlasted 29 other men to win an opportunity at the title just a day later at Evolution 26: Boulevard of Broken Dreams. On August 21st we shall see which of these two men can overcome the other. A man who has overcome the biggest challenge of his life in the last 12 months is Kris Travis. In Mansfield on Friday night, Travis will make his in-ring return to HOPE Wrestling to face the winner of the Kings Of Flight tournament, Chris Tyler. Many have called Tyler the new Kris Travis, Travis is out to prove that wrestling doesn't need a new Travis, the original is still more than capable of stealing the show. Elsewhere in HOPE, there are no two men who hate each other more than LJ Heron and Ryan Smile. These men have competed in various matches for months with neither definitively showing superiority. However, this Friday they'll compete once again and the only way to win is to make their opponent say “I Quit!”. Add in another 5 matches that will feature El Ligero, Joseph Conners, Lana Austin, Martin Kirby & The Hooligans to name just a few and HOPE have a stacked show.

This Saturday will see Futureshock Wrestling celebrate their 11th Anniversary with Underground 12 at The Longfield Suite in Prestwich, where every championship will be on the line. A few months ago The Models were attacked and their Tag Team Championship belts were stolen by an unknown duo. It has now transpired that the duo in question were international tag team, The Wolves. Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards have now informed The Models that if they want their titles back then they'll have to win them and they'll have to do it in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match on August 22nd. Two men that have no love lost are Jack Gallagher and Zack Gibson. Both men have faced each other many times, delivering technical spectacles every time. On Saturday both men will come face-to-face once again, this time in a Submission Match. Either man could be argued as one of, if not THE best technical wrestler in the UK. Now it's time to find out who is superior. Every match has something on the line, be it respect, an opportunity or a championship. However, at this Saturday not only will Xander Cooper's Futureshock Championship be on the line but the challenger, Dave Rayne's career will be at risk. Dave Rayne is determined to end the reign of Cooper but 'The Man For All Seasons' wants Rayne's career to come to an end. Regardless of the outcome, Futureshock Wrestling is about to be changed forever. The Adrenaline and Women's Championship will also be up for grabs along with matches that feature Bubblegum, Ashton Smith, Sexy Kev and more as Futureshock Wrestling celebrating their 11th Anniversary in style.

Moving on to Sunday and IPW:UK are back at the Tap 'n' Tin in Chatham, Kent with another 18+ show, entitled If You Like Pina Coladas...and Getting Kicked in the Face. One match that presents an opportunity to all involved is a Four-Way Match between Damian Dunne, Chris Brookes, Tyler Bate & Pete Dunne. Remarkably, none of these four men have ever competed in IPW:UK before and this match not only has the possibility to steal a packed show but also gives all involved a chance to show why IPW:UK needs them in their ranks. A bout with an international flavour is the tag team match between The GZRS and the duo of Iestyn Rees and Robbie E. The Riots are known to do everything they can in matches to win when there are rules. Removing them will no doubt make them even more dangerous. However, their opponents love a fight. So much so that Jon Ryan's original tag team partner, Kurrupt is competing in his first match for over two and a half years. When a team reunite after being apart for so long you know that they are going to bring everything in their quest for victory. Riots vs Murkers, violence is a guarantee. Additional matches featuring Danny Duggan & Snare in a Falls Count Anywhere Match, a rematch between Toni Storm & Tennessee Honey and a lot more takes place this Sunday.
