Wrestle Ropes' Ready for the Weekend: September 2016 Week One - TCW, LCW & IPW:UK

This weekend we are back with another dose of wrestling goodness which shall see us travel to Darlington on Friday night. That is followed by a trip to Leicester on Saturday before a final stop on Sunday to Tonbridge in Kent. Let's get Ready For The Weekend! 

We kick off the weekend on Friday night when TIDAL Championship Wrestling return to The Dolphin Centre in Darlington with Come Out & Play. The event is scheduled to see three of their four championships on the line. 

The first championship defense will be the Tag Team Championship currently held by Caz Crash and Sam Wilder of The Proven. They'll be defending against the relativity new duo of The Service's Sean Only and Daniel James.The Tag Team Championship have been fought for by a number of teams since it's inception but this is the first time that The Service have challenged. The Proven have been worthy champions, picking up a win over Go Team Sports (Ace Matthews & David Graves) at July's High Tide 2016. The Service would really like to become champions as their whole intention in TCW is to cause trouble. Holding gold would be a key component of them achieving that goal. 

The next championship up for grab this Friday is the Women's Championship. The champion, Violet O'Hara maybe be small in stature but she easily makes up for that in fight. She's took on all comers in recent months and in Darlington will face Little Miss Roxxy. LMS has a great foundation as she was trained by current TCW Champion, Rampage Brown and British Wrestling legend, Marty Jones. O'Hara is probably going to need all that fight she has in her this Friday when she faces LMS who will be look for her first championship reign. 

The third and final title being defended in Darlington is the Open Championship which is round the waist of Liam Slater at this present time. His challenger is one of the most highly regarded young stars in British Wrestling, “The Righteous” Joseph Conners. Both these men are looked upon as the next big stars of British Wrestling but for their match this Friday they will be doing things in a more traditional way. Their match will be contested under World Of Sport Rules. The match will be broken down into six 5-minute rounds. A round can be won by pinfall, submission, disqualification, etc. The first man to score 2 falls in the match will be the winner. These matches are the way that champions were decided in previous years and it seems almost fitting that a way of tradition shall decide a champion for the future.

Moving on to Saturday and Leicester Championship Wrestling host Face Off 2016 at their home, Brockington College in Enderby, Leicester. This event will be the last that owner, John Shipley will be in control for as a new owner will take control afterwards. The event certainly won't be a quiet one with numerous championship defences and a Money In The Bank match all taking place. 

One champion who will be action twice is “The Heavyweight House Of Pain” Stixx. Firstly, he'll be defending the LCW Championship against “The Heat” LJ Heron. “The Heat” is a dangerous man who can strike from almost anywhere and with devastating effect. His spear has defeated almost everyone at some point and he'll look to use it against Stixx to win the LCW Championship. 

Whether Stixx does walk away still champion or not, he'll be back in the ring later that night when he joins his partner, Joseph Conner to defend the Tag Team Championship against The Alpha Brothers [Johnny Alpha & Ricky Alpha]. This is the first time that Stixx and Conners will make a championship defense together and they'll hope it to be successful against the brotherly duo of The Alpha Brothers who are gunning for the gold. 

Anyone who is still a champion this Saturday after their matches will have to keep one eye open for the Money In The Bank holder who will be decided this Saturday. Xander Cooper, Gabriel Kidd, Alex Gracie, Chris Tyler, Paul Malen and Jim Hunter will all participate in this year's match with a blend of experience and youth. Anyone in this match is more than capable of winning and no one is a real favoruite. Whoever does win, could well be guaranteed to be a future champion.

LCW Owner John Shipley Bids Farewell

We round of the wrestling weekend on Sunday with IPW:UK celebrating their 12th anniversary at The Angel Centre in Tonbridge. 

The event is probably the last time that Noam Dar will be competing for IPW:UK due to him joining WWE's Monday Night RAW roster in the very near future. He'll be going up against “The British Messiah” Timothy Thatcher, the current EVOLVE Champion. Both of these men are flying high in their careers right now and this match will be a great showcase of both men will be a real treat for those attending. 

Back at Royale Rewards in August, Tom Dawkins and Zack Gibson and a blistering match which only ended because they reached the 20-minute time limit. While the match showed that they can match each over at ever instance, we never found out who was the better man that night. Well this Sunday we shall as these two men compete once again but this time with no time limit. This match will go until there is a winner and it's time to see how far these men can go. 

The main event this Sunday will see a situation that has been on-going for a number of months come to a head. Sammy Smooth has been attempting to challenge for the World Championship since winning the Royale Rewards. Be it either Joseph Conners not being in attendance or heat of the moment decisions, Smooth hasn't yet managed to have a fair match. This Sunday while he won't be fighting for gold, he'll be out to prove a point as Smooth, Scott Star and The London Riots (James Davis & Rob Lynch) will face Conners, Jimmy Havoc and The Swords Of Essex (Paul Robinson & Scotty "Essex" Wainwright) in an 8-man no disqualification tag team match. To say there are a lot of variables and opportunities in this match would be an understatement. While Smooth will be looking to get a win over either Havoc or Conners, London Riots could get themselves a shot at the Tag Team Championship if they manage to get the win over The S.o.E. While this Sunday is a celebration for IPW:UK of the previous 12 years, it could also show us where the future is heading.

Wrestle Ropes' Ready for the Weekend: July 2016 Week Two - FCP, SWE & RevPro (Andy Scotland)

This weekend as with almost every weekend, British Wrestling is bulging with events all over the country. This week's edition see's us in Wolverhampton, Stevenage and London with some pretty big shows. So without any further ado, let's get Ready For The Weekend!

The weekend kicks off on Friday with Fight Club: PRO at the Fixxion Warehouse in Wolverhampton with 'Rage Against The Death Machine'. 

The main event shall see 'The Death Machine' Sami Callihan bring his rage to FCP when he faces the man who has been the foundation of the promotion, 'The Super Don' Trent Seven. Both of these men are known for a style which can be brutal at times. We expect this match to showcase the strong style these men are known for. 

We've spoken before about the issues between The Hunter Brothers and the Facesmashers. Well things have still not been settled between these two teams and doesn't look like it will be any time soon. To add another chapter to their storied rivalry, Hunter Brothers will be in singles action when Lee Hunter faces Dan Moloney while Wild Boar shall compete against Jim Hunter. Don't expect two matches that have clean decisions is all we'll say about these contests. 

Travis Banks arrived in Fight Club: PRO a number of months ago and was an instant hit as he has been all over the country. He's back again this Friday and he'll have possibly his biggest match since relocating to the UK when he faces the WWE Cruiserweight Classic's Zack Sabre Jr. Banks has impressed everyone as we have mentioned and this shall be a real test and opportunity to impress even further when he faces a true world-class wrestler in ZSJ.

Moving on to Saturday and we head to Stevenage for Southside Wrestling Entertainment "Gunning For Glory" at The Gordon Craig Theatre. 

The show will see the feud between Stixx & Flips' Stixx & Chris Tyler and The Second City Collective's Ryan Smile & Damian Dunne continue. These two teams have been fighting back and forth for ages with Stixx & Flips finally securing themselves a shot at the SCS's SWE Tag Team Championship. However before their championship match, both teams shall meet again in a six-man tag team match with Marshall X joining The SCS and former WWE star D'Lo Brown aligning with Stixx & Flips. Both teams will be looking for the win give them a mental advantage over the other before the gold is on the line. 

Robbie X turned on his partner a number of months ago and since then has had no contact with SWE. That was until very recently when he challenged Mark Haskins to a street fight. Haskins has been waiting for the chance to gain revenge and wasn't ever going to back down from this challenge. The unknown in this match is what sort of mental state shall Robbie X be in. He was extremely angry and aggressive the last time we saw him in SWE. Could he be even more dangerous now? 

The main event this Saturday will see the bad blood between The Righteous Army and El Ligero finally come to an end. Hopefully. We'll see Righteous Army's Joseph Conners, Paul Malen, Kay Lee Ray & The Pledge face Ligero, Nixon Newell, Hardcore Holly and a fourth mystery partner in an elimination match. If Ligero's team defeat Righteous Army, then they shall be force the disband immediately. However a loss for Ligero would see him forced into joining Righteous Army. This is a match that neither team can afford to lose for their long-term future.

Finally we end the wrestling weekend with a trip to London which is where we tend to end our weekends through either coincidence or just luck. This weekend see Revolution Pro Wrestling's 'Summer Sizzler 2016' take place at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, London.

The main event for this match is the calibre that we have come to expect from RevPro as Zack Sabre Jr will defend the Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship against Katsuyori Shibata. This match would not look out of place on a New Japan Pro Wrestling event and could well be one of the best matches we see in 2016. This match is so difficult to call that RevPro have already ensured that Shibata will be available for a future event in the event that he wins this Sunday. London is likely to see something very special. 

Pete Dunne has risen to the top of RevPro at lightning speed, capturing the British Cruiserweight Championship on his first night. Since then he has delivered stand out matches each and every time. His challenger this Sunday is well-known for standing out as he's the 2016 New Japan Best Of The Super Juniors winner and former champion; 'The Aerial Assassin' Will Ospreay. These men have already had and shall continue to have the most successful year of their young careers in 2016. A win for both men would only add to that success. 

Matt Sydal has been a regular visitor in Revolution Pro Wrestling and has a number of highly rated matches with men of similar size and style. However this Sunday he'll have a match with a man who is everything that is opposite of his style, 'The Beast Of Belfast' Big Damo. A true heavyweight who is known for his hard-hitting style. Sydal has worked for the biggest promotions in the world and faced equal world class competition. Damo will add to that world class competition this Sunday but he shall be an opponent the likes of Sydal may have never faced before. Talent and speed shall be Sydal's allies in this match. Damo will know Sydal's skills and will look to add another international scalp to his impressive list of opponents.

Wrestle Ropes' Ready for the Weekend: July 2016 Week 1 - ATTACK!, LCW & RevPro

This week's edition of Ready For The Weekend shall be seeing us firstly heading to Bristol for ATTACK! at The Trinity Centre. Then we're off to Leicester for a stacked LCW event before we round off the wrestling weekend in London at the Cockpit Theatre for RevPro. Phew! Right that's the itinerary out of the way, let's get Ready For The Weekend!

The weekend kicks off on Friday night when ATTACK! Pro Wrestling cross the border into England and head to The Trinity Centre in Bristol for 'RaffleMania II: Stripwrecked'. 

The event will see the continuation of the ATTACK! Championship tournament with an opening round contest between Mike Bird and Zack Sabre Jr taking placing. These men are both well known to the Attack! Pro Wrestling fans with Bird being a foundation of the promotion while ZSJ's star continues to shine brighter with every passing week. Bird has finally put his issues with "Flash" Morgan Webster to bed and will be looking to focus now on winning some championship gold. However, he'll have to bring his all against ZSJ who is currently in the WWE Cruiserweight Classic as well holding the top titles in PWG & RevPro. ZSJ will be looking to add more accolades his to resume but a win for Bird would be a huge statement to everyone else in the tournament. 

Speaking of the tournament, Wild Boar and Eddie Dennis have already secured their place in the next stage of the tournament. They could find themselves as tournament opponents in the near future, but this Friday they shall be on opposing teams when Boar and CCK's Chris Brookes and Kid Lykos face the trio of Dennis and The Brothers of Construction in six-man tag team action. The B.O.C. and CCK also have previous between them. CCK won the Attack! Pro Tag Team Championship from The B.O.C., who have yet to get the chance at getting the gold back. A win for The B.O.C. could slingshot them straight back into the title picture. There is a lot of variables in this match with tournament competitors and tag teams fighting over gold. Could go either way this one. 

This Friday will also see a rematch from Attack! Pro Wrestling's last event at Walkabout in Cardiff as Tyler Bate will compete against Travis Banks. These men tore the roof off Walkabout last time so we hope that The Trinity Centre in Bristol have checked theirs as we could see history repeat itself once again this Friday.

Moving on to Saturday and Leicester Championship Wrestling are at Brockington College in Leicester with 'Summertime 2016'. 

At LCW's last event, 'Aftermath', White Tiger defeated LJ Heron and in the process became the number one contender for the LCW Young Guns Championship. Well now he is going to get his chance to win the championship when he faces TK Hayward this Saturday. The LCW fans have been behind Tiger for a long time and have wanted him to have this chance. Hayward has went to great lengths to remain champion and he'll be looking to do the same on July 2nd. Only time will tell whether Tiger and his unanimous support will be enough to dethrone the current champion. 

Alexis Rose and Toni Storm have been at each other's throats for a number of months now with wins being exchanged back and forth. Rose wants another match with Storm and she's going to get it but with the added elements of Xander Cooper as her partner and Tyler Bate joining with Storm. While Cooper may be a help to Rose, Bate is an equal counter to that advantage. The Rose and Storm rivalry looks set to create another chapter this Saturday. 

The main event this Saturday will see the current LCW Heavyweight Champion; Stixx in action when he joins with Joseph Conners to challenge Cy Gregory and Marc Massa of DNA for the LCW Tag Team Championship. The match was made a few weeks ago after Gregory failed to win the LCW Heavyweight Championship from Stixx. DNA are indeed a very slick team, hence why they are champions, however their opponents have both held the LCW Heavyweight Championship, Stixx being the current champion. DNA winning would be a huge feat for them and something they would no doubt be sure to boast about. If Stixx and Conners win, they could well become the most dominant team in LCW history.

Finally we round off the wrestling weekend in London at the Cockpit Theatre with Revolution Pro Wrestling. Amazingly this will be the tenth event that RevPro have held at the Cockpit Theatre in what seems like still a new venue for the promotion. The match card for the show however feels very familiar with it being stacked full of British stars. 

For a number of weeks, The Legion Of Lords' Rishi Ghosh and Lord Gideon Grey have been campaigning for an Undisputed British Tag Team Championship match. This Sunday they will get their wish when the challenge Charlie Garrett and Joel Redman for the gold. The L.o.L. truly believe they are the best and their run of wins can't be argued with. The champions can't be dismissed easily either though as they defeated the longest reigning champions in RevPro history to become the champions. The L.o.L. want championship gold badly, Garrett and Redman will have a real test of their hands to show they want to remain champions even more. 

Originally at RevPro's last event at the Cockpit Theatre, Mark Haskins was scheduled to face Trent Seven. However due to illness, Haskins was not able to compete and the match did not take place. This Sunday, Haskins is back and he's 100%! Add in the element and Seven also bring his A game any time he's in the ring and we have the makings of a show-stealing match when The Super Don faces The Star Attraction. 

The main event this Sunday will see the current Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion; Zack Sabre Jr join forces with the number one contender to the champion, 'The Villain' Marty Scurll in a reformation of The LDRS. Their opponents will be the duo of Jake McCluskey and Kieran Bruce. McCluskey and Bruce are a slick tag team who have found success in various locations in England. This will be the biggest match of their career but the one chink in the armour of the The LDRS is the relationship between Scurll and ZSJ right now. Scurll's actions of late have been questionable and not to the liking of ZSJ. Scurll has told his partner that there is nothing to worry about but does the champion 100% believe that and trust 'The Villain'? We might find out this Sunday.

Wrestle Ropes Ready for the Weekend: May 2016 Week 2 - GPW, AOW & PROGRESS

We're back for another edition. Another edition where we take a little look at just some of the action taking place in British Wrestling this week. Firstly, we'll be off to Hindley in Wigan for the (un)luckiest day of the year. Then we travel to Morecambe for a War On The Shore. Before we end the weekend back in London for another PROGRESS Wrestling ENDVR. Let's get Ready For The Weekend.

Starting off the wrestling weekend and we head to Grand Pro Wrestling for their aptly named 'Friday The 13th' event in Hindley, Wigan at The Rose Club. The show will see another Fast Track 4-Way match where either Craig Kollins, Nick Maguire, Dylan Roberts and Jimmy Jackson will fight for the opportunity to challenge for either the GPW British or GPW Championship. Opportunities like this do not present themselves that often so the pressure will be on all four men to win. While one champion will be defending their championship, the other will be in an even more challenging situation when they face The Hate League's Danxig and Soner Dursun. Both men have been under the tutelage of Dylan Roberts for the past few months and a win over a current champion would be a great way to impress their leader. When Ricky J McKenzie made his return to Grand Pro Wrestling a few months ago, he did it at the expense of Matthew Brooks' musical performance. The following month, Brooks would  gain a small measure of revenge when he cost RJM a chance to compete in the Fast Track 4-Way. These men have outstanding issues with each other and there is only one way to sort out these differences, in the middle of the squared circle.

Moving on to Saturday and Alpha Omega Wrestling will be back at the Winter Gardens in Morecambe with 'War On The Shore'. This event will see a number of long running issues hopefully settled although there is a big chance some won't. The main event of the evening will see 'The Heavyweight House Of Pain' Stixx defend the Alpha Omega Championship against 'The Psychotic Warrior' Johnny Phere. These two men have only ever face each other once before and it ended in chaos with no winner. Almost four years after that match these two men meet once more, this time with gold on the line along with Stixx's 8-year undefeated streak. A feud with over 4 years of history will come to a head this Saturday. A feud that could see a championship reign and undefeated streak ended. Back in 2014, The Referendum came into existence and one of the first victims was Danny Hope. Since then, Hope has done all he came to get back at The Referendum. This Saturday he looks to deliver another blow as he faces 'The Best Young Wrestler In The World' Lewis Girvan. While Hope looks to continue this war, Laird Grayson will be hoping that his young warrior will stop Hope's attacks for good. Speaking of The Referendum, another victims of their countless attacks is Lana Austin. She was first attacked back in December 2014 and since then Austin has made it her mission to take on every female member of The Referendum. After defeating a veritable who's-who of Scottish female wrestlers, there is just one female left of The Referendum. The Alpha Omega Women's Champion, Viper. While Austin has defeated everyone that The Referendum have thrown at her, Viper is the champion for a reason. She's world-travelled and has competed against some of the biggest female wrestlers. Viper is indeed a formidable opponent but it is matched by Austin's desire to win.

Finally ending the wrestling weekend we are back at PROGRESS Wrestling who are hosting another edition of the highly successful ENDVR events at The Garage in Highbury, London. Over the last six months, Sweet Jesus' Chuck Mambo and Pastor William Eaver, and The Dazzler Team's Earl Black Jr and Darrell Allen have been trading wins back and forth with no one team standing a clear victor. PROGRESS have therefore taken the step to have these two team face each other one more time, this time in a 30-minute iron man match. Both teams claim they are better than the other and an iron man match will show who the truly better team is. When Pollyanna and Dahlia Black are mentioned in the same sentence, the word friendship isn't normally included. The reason is simple, they hate each other with a passion. Pollyanna's hatred grew larger after Black defeated her twice after Black's significant other, TK Cooper delivered a straight right hand to Pollyanna's face. Cooper's interference was brought to a stop at Chapter 29 when Jack Sexsmith got in the way of Cooper's interference in a tag bout involving Pollyanna and Black. Fast forward to this Sunday and Pollyanna will look to gain revenge on Black on her own. However to ensure that TK Cooper's right hand doesn't become a factor again, Sexsmith shall act as the referee on May 15th. The main event for 'ENDVR:16' shall be a first in PROGRESS as Wild Boar and Paul Robinson look to end their long running rivalry in a chain match. These two men want to get their hands on each other and this Sunday they will have no choice as they shall be joined together by a steel chain. What happens when you join to men together with a legalised weapon? We'll find out this Sunday but chaos and violence are an almost certainty.

We're back once again for another busy weekend in the British Wrestling. This week we are heading off to HOPE Wrestling in Mansfield then travelling over to Leicester for Leicester Championship Wrestling before finally heading to Glasgow for Insane Championship Wrestling. Once again, let's get Ready For The Weekend!

Firstly on Friday night, HOPE Wrestling host their first of three shows this weekend, this event taking place in Mansfield at the Forest Town Arena. The main event of the evening shall see Jack Jester defending the HOPE Championship against fan favourite, Martin Kirby. Jester has had a lengthy reign since becoming the inaugural champion back in July last year, Kirby is without  doubt one of the most talented wrestlers in Europe so this could be the biggest challenge that Jester has faced in the last 9 months. The winner of the main event will immediately have to set their sights on the next challenge as the number one contender to the HOPE Championship will also be determined this Friday when CJ Banks, Pete Dunne, Joseph Conners and Jake McCluskey compete in a fatal four-way match. All four men would be a worthy challenger for the HOPE Championship so it really will come down to the man who capitalises on the opportunities presented to them and also their own skill and talent to walk away the number one contender. Friday will also see a rematch from last weekend's event as Chris Tyler shall once again face El Ligero. Their meeting last weekend ended in controversy as Tyler won via disqualification after Ligero accidentally struck the referee. Ligero's anger at the decision resulted in the official being on the receiving end of an attack from Ligero, something not often seen from 'The Mexican Sensation'. HOPE Wrestling have therefore scheduled this match between the two in an attempt to rectify the controversy.

Moving on to Saturday and Leicester Championship Wrestling are at their usual haunt of Brockington College with 'Mayhem'. The event will see every championship defended. The Hunter Brothers have been chasing the LCW Tag Team Championship for a number of months. The current champions, DNA's Cy Gregory and Marc Massa have managed to hold back the challenge so far but this time the challenge will be even greater. This time they shall be defending the LCW Tag Team Championship in a ladder match. As Hunter Brothers quest to win has not waned, the inclusion of ladders may be the catalyst to propel them to another championship reign. Also on the line will be the LCW Young Guns Championship which is going to be defended in a fatal four-way match. The champion; TK Hayward will defend against Paul Malen, White Tiger & Alex Gracie. A fatal four-way match is a difficult enough task for a champion but this one will be even harder as all three challengers are or have been a champion within LCW. If Hayward can walk away still as a champion, he'll have gone further than he's ever gone before to do so. The main event this Saturday in Enderby will see 'The Man For All Seasons' Xander Cooper defend the LCW Heavyweight Championship against former champion, 'The Heavyweight House Of Pain' Stixx. After interference in previous encounters, it has been announced that this match shall be a first for LCW, a Lumberjack match. While Cooper will have his DNA members present during the match, Stixx shall also have back up in selected allies as he attempts to dethrone Cooper and once again become the LCW Heavyweight Champion.

Finally the weekend finishes with Insane Championship Wrestling tape another edition of 'Friday Night Fight Club' in Glasgow at The Garage. This edition of 'Friday Night Fight Club' could well be the biggest yet as there is a lot on the line on May 8th. Firstly, Joe Coffey shall be facing Jack Jester with the stipulation that if Joe Coffey wins he'll receive an ICW World Heavyweight Championship match at Shug's Hoose Party III on July 31st. However a loss for Coffey will result in him quitting Insane Championship Wrestling. Coffey needs to go through a former champion to get a championship match or it shall indeed be the end of his time at ICW. This Sunday shall also see the start of the ICW Tag Team Championship tournament. May 8th shall see two quarter-final matches take place as The 55's Kid Fite and Sha Samuels will face Alexander Henry and Jason Prime of The New Nation while The Rich Kids Of Instagram competing against Davey Boy and Joe Hendry of The Local Fire. All four teams will be looking to make their intentions clear right from the start and show others they are in it to win it. Sunday will also see a new number one contender to the ICW World Heavyweight Championship decided as Chris Renfrew faces Grado. Both these men have been champion before. Indeed it was Renfrew who ended the reign of Grado earlier this year so there is prior conflict between these two men. However, while the winner will be named the number one contender, the loser will not only record a loss, they will never challenge for the ICW World Heavyweight Championship ever again. While the reward for the winner will be great, the repercussions for the loser will alter their entire future in ICW.
