Wrestle Ropes' Ready for the Weekend: February 2016 Week 4

This week's edition shall see us heading to Telford on Friday night before heading back up north to Liverpool. The weekend ends with trip across to Leeds. It's time once again to get Ready For The Weekend!

Kicking off on Friday night and VII Pro Wrestling are at the Dawley Town Hall in Telford. The show will mark VII Pro Wrestling's first event since changing their name from Shropshire Wrestling Alliance. The show features numerous debuts, two of which are 'The Fashionista' Jinny and New Zealand's Dahlia Black. Both women have been making waves in British Wrestling over the last few months and will hope to do that same in Telford. VII Pro want to reignite their female division and these two competitors will do a great job of fanning the flames. At the last event in Telford, Chris Brookes became the British Lions Champion in a six-way ladder match. However, it was in fact Mark Andrews who retrieved the championship from above the ring. With the referees distracted, Brookes took advantage by delivering a low-blow to Mark Andrews and taking the championship just in time for the referees to declare him the winner. Understandably, Andrews is far from happy and neither were the fans. So this Friday, Brookes and Andrews are going to meet one on one with the British Lions Championship on the line. Let's see if Brookes can keep the gold when the focus is solely on him and his opponent. The main event on February 26th sees the current VII Pro Champion, 'All Day Star' Ryan Smile in action. His opponent? One of the hottest independent prospects in the world right now. Beyond Wrestling's 'The Dirty Daddy' Chris Dickinson. In his last defense, Smile was able to defeat Dan Moloney and now wants the best competition he can have. VII Pro have certainly delivered on that front as Dickinson has been making a name for himself wherever he has gone. His sights are now set on VII Pro Wrestling and challenging the top man in the company.

Moving on to Saturday and we head up to Liverpool for TNT Extreme Wrestling's Merseyside Massacre at the Fusion Nightclub. At TNT's last event,  Bubblegum became the very first TNT "World" Heavyweight Champion by defeating Rampage Brown after some help from Ashton Smith, Sam Bailey and a steel chair. Brown is an aggressive competitor at the best of time but Bubblegum has now pissed him off and he has demanded a shot at the championship and revenge. TNT have granted Brown his request and also added the stipulation that steel chairs will be legal. Bubblegum might be lucky to leave with his life on Saturday never mind the TNT World Heavyweight Championship if Brown has a say in it. Speaking of Ashton Smith & Sam Bailey, a man who was enraged with their actions at the last TNT show was Ruffneck. 'Mr TNT' has been almost the conscious of TNT, dealing out justice to those who disrespect not only TNT but it's fans. Ruffneck has now joined with The Babyfaced Pitbull to challenge the new Manc Union to a match. While the Manc Union may be quick to dismiss Pitbull & Ruffneck, failing to see the danger may be their undoing. Every show has an element of unknown about it but we can guarantee that we will have a new champion this Saturday. A few weeks ago, TNT Extreme Wrestling announced the TNT Extreme Division Championship. They promised that the challengers would be known for their extreme, no limit style. They haven't let us down either with Robbie X, Chris Ridgeway, Flash Morgan Webster and Liam Lazarus all competing in a fatal four-way match. All four of these men are on the rise, constantly getting better with each passing week. Nobody has a clear winner and anyone could be leaving as the inaugural TNT Extreme Division Champion.

Finally ending another packed weekend and Tidal Wrestling are back at the Leeds University Union. The show shall see the debut of former PWG World Tag Team Champion Andrew Everett who shall go one on one with the best in Tidal Wrestling right now, 'The Mexican Sensation' El Ligero. This is sure to be a very fast, high-flying affair with both men known for their speed and agility. Ligero has been on a good run during his second reign as champ and shall look to continue that this Sunday. From one champion to another as Dan James shall be in action on Sunday defending the TCW Open Championship against one of the best pure wrestlers in Europe, Jack Gallagher. These two men were previously scheduled to face each other a number of months ago but car issues stopped James from competing. So now he's going to do what he never got the chance to do before; face a world-class athlete but this time his championship is on the line. This Sunday, HT Drake was due to face Robbie E but due to some unforeseen circumstances that match won't happen. However, HT Drake shall still be competing. His new opponent will be 'The Juice' CJ Banks, who shall be making his Tidal Wrestling debut. HT Drake has been having some killer matches recently in TCW and could soon be in line for a championship opportunity. He will need to get round this new roadblock in the shape of Banks for that to happen though. To continue on his road to being the best in TCW, he's going to have to defeat one of the best in the UK and Banks will not go easy on him.

Wrestle Ropes Ready for the Weekend: November 2015 Week 3

As we still recover from the biggest show in British Wrestling history, the wrestling machine just keeps on rolling with another packed weekend coming up. Let's get Ready For The Weekend!

On Friday night, Discovery Wrestling are back in action in Edinburgh, this time at the Thomas Morton Hall. One match set to take place will see probably the most well-known man in British Wrestling today, Grado in action. Grado has had an issue with 'Global Hero' Joe Hendry ever since he cost Grado a match against Lou King Sharp. Now Grado gets his chance at retribution against Joe Hendry hopefully without any interference from Lou King Sharp. New faces are appearing in Discover Wrestling all the time and this Saturday shall be no different as 'White Lightning' Mark Andrews makes his debut. However, Andrews will not have an easy introduction to Discovery Wrestling as he faces 'Iron Man' Joe Coffey. Mark Andrews is a phenomenal athlete and will no doubt put on a show this Friday but his opponent, Joe Coffey is undefeated in Discovery Wrestling. An undefeated streak is an accomplishment in itself but Joe Coffey has defeated a plethora of international talent in Discovery Wrestling. Andrews face a great challenge but a win would be an amazing start to his Discovery Wrestling career. The main event this Friday shall see Rampage Brown and Damian O'Connor meet one last time. Both men hold a victory over the other in Discovery Wrestling. Neither man will back down from the other so they will now face each other until one of them cannot stand. The winner of this war will literally be the Last Man Standing.

The Christopher Saynt Celebration

Moving on to Saturday and Pride Wrestling host their final show of 2015 at the Bridgeton Community Centre in Glasgow. There has been a long running feud between Christopher Saynt and the group known as The Z List. The Z List have targeted Christopher Saynt for months, even luring Saynt's former tag team partner into their ranks. Christopher Saynt has now had enough and has decided to take the fight to The Z List and eliminated them one by one. His first target, the man who mentored him when he first began his career, Scott 'The Butcher' Renwick. The Butcher was always a hard-hitter but since joining The Z List, he has an unrepentant viciousness in him. Saynt looks to take out the heavyweight enforcer of The Z List on his path to destroying the group. However, the Scott Renwick that Christopher Saynt once knew is no more. The event will see both of Pride Wrestling's championship defended. The first, N7 Championship is a hotly contest title with numerous men laying claim to a shot at the championship. So how do you solve a problem like that? Put put the title on the line a four-way contest. Chris Renfrew has taken every step needed to keep the championship around his waist, the main step being delivering brutal beatings to his
opponents. But all of his defences so far have been straight up one on one affairs. Now Chris Renfrew must defend against former N7 Champion, Lewis Girvan, a mystery opponent and a man who has been in pursuit of Chris Renfrew for a number of months, DCT. Renfrew is a champion who will use the numbers game when needed. The tables are now turned though as the champion has a numerical disadvantage. Anyone could win this Saturday, who it will eventually be is very much like the fourth competitor, a mystery. The main event for November 21st will see 'The Beast Of Belfast' Big Damo defend the Pride Heavyweight Championship against Mikey Whiplash. This match will mark Big Damo's first defence of the heavyweight championship and the first appearance of Mikey Whiplash since he was robbed of the championship by Jacke Polo mere moments after winning it. Big Damo is the biggest man to ever hold the Pride Heavyweight Championship and will look to start his reign off with a showcase of his dominance. Mikey Whiplash will be looking to right the wrong that done to him earlier this year. One man is looking to start his reign as he means to go on. The other looking to start a reign he was so cruelly denied.

'Iron Man' Joe Coffey In Action

Finally on Sunday, Tidal Championship Wrestling will celebrate their second anniversary at the University Union in Leeds. They are not doing things small either as they have a nine match card set to take place! The main event will see Dara Diablo defend the TCW Championship for the first time since his win. He defends the title against a man who he knows very well, 'The Mexican Sensation' El Ligero. While Diablo may not pinned the champion to win the title, his accomplishment is still a big one. His defence will be even bigger as El Ligero is some of the toughest competition he could face in Tidal Championship Wrestling. From one championship to another, namely the TCW Open Championship. A few months ago, Sean Only had to forfeith the championship after substaining an injury that prevented him from competing. So now we need to have a match to find a new champion. Step up Violet O'Hara and Dan James. These two have met before in the past during the tournament to crown the first TCW Open Champion. We are guaranteed a new champion this Sunday so let's see who of the two that tried to capture the gold the first time can capitalise when opportunity presents itself once more. When people talk about the best in the UK, Martin Kirby is always in the mix. Another man often mentioned is Mark Haskins. If we discuss young rising talent, then former TCW Champion, Liam Lazarus is near the top of the pile. So in Leeds we're going to see two of the best in British Wrestling and a former champion and rising star compete in a triple threat match. This match should be all kinds of great. If you want to celebrate an anniversary then there really is no better way to do it than to have these three men compete in one ring.

WrestleRopes' Ready for the Weekend (26th June - 28th June 2015)

The very good folks at Across The Pond asked us if we would like to do a weekly preview of some of the shows scheduled for the weekend and we were happy to oblige such a great site as this. So without further a do, let's get underway!

On Friday night, HOPE Wrestling are back at the Forest Town Arena in Mansfield, a venue they've really defined as their home in the past year or so. Evolution XXIV: We'll Start a Fire...And Burn Some Bridges is going to see four qualifying matches take place with the winner from each contest earning a place in the six-way HOPE Championship match on July 17^th. With qualifying matches such as Martin Kirby vs. Ryan Smile and Joseph Conners vs. T-Bone, the outcomes of each match really are anyone's guess. Elsewhere on the card we have The Hooligans against The London Riots. If you have ever wanted to see a hard-hitting tag team match between two of the finest teams not just in the UK but in Europe then this is the match for you!

Saturday is jammed-packed when it comes to shows and we could have a whole article just dedicated to it with events from the top of Scotland to the South of England. However there can only be room for one, well two actually, and the first is ProWrestling Chaos' Heir to the Throne in Bristol. The main event will see Mike Bird defending the King Of Chaos Championship against Eddie Dennis. If you've never seen either Bird or Dennis then you're really missing out on two really talented guys on these shores and the match I almost guarantee to be a cracker. Whoever comes out on top in that match better keep their eye open however as there will also be a six-man Heir To The Throne ladder match with the winner earning a championship match at any time of their choosing. Those two matches plus Morgan Webster in action for the first time since retiring Dave Mercy and earning his roster spot back, Pro Wrestling Chaos are looking primed to deliver another great event.

Also on Saturday night, ShropshireWrestling Alliance have their first show for almost 3 months with The Return at the Dawley Town Hall in Telford. Now if you are unfamiliar with SWA then the best way we could describe them is to say they are the future. Their shows are packed with some of the hottest young wrestlers in the UK and their show this weekend is no different. Firstly we have Tyler Bate defending the British Lions Championship against Dan Moloney. Now if you wanted a match that showcased young talent in the UK then this is that match. Both of these men have been tearing it up in the last year or so in the UK and neither man is even in their 20s yet. There's also an SWA Heavyweight Championship ladder match between Joey Sanchez & Edwards in SWA's ongoing war with The Chase Coalition. With the added stipulation that if Edwards loses he's gone from SWA, there is a lot more on the line than the championship. In another intriguing match, Damian Dunne & Chris Ridgeway will be in a tag team action against Chris Brookes and.... well we don't know! The only person who does know Brookes' partner is Chris Brookes himself! Add in matches involving Ryan Smile, Chuck Cyrus, Marc Morgan plus big announcements for SWA's July 25^th show and you have a stacked night in Telford.

Now traditionally Sunday is a day of rest.... except in British Wrestling. This Sunday will see Tidal Championship Wrestling's latest show, High Tide, takes place in Leeds. There is only one way to describe this show. Violent. Firstly there will be possibly the biggest, heaviest Falls Count Anywhere match ever when Big Damo & Wolfgang face T-Bone & Dave Mastiff in a rematch from earlier this year. If that wasn't enough, we also have JD Boom facing Addy Starr. Now you might not think that sounds all that violent but this match will be a barefoot Lego match! Oh and the fans can bring their own Lego creations as well! However, Tidal Wrestling didn't think that was enough violence as we shall witness Rampage Brown vs. Liam Lazarus for the Tidal Championship in a Last Man Standing match. Now these two men don't dislike each other, they straight out hate each other! Then you add in matches like The Proven vs The London Riots, Pastor William Eaver, Joseph Conners, Joe Hendry & Sean Only in a four-way match and Ruby Summers facing Bete Noire who is affectionately referred to as 'Hard As F*ck' you know it's all going down in Leeds on Sunday.
